Questo mese la terra della menta piperita ha compiuto un anno!

Mi sembra incredibile se ripenso a com'ero partita, senza uno scopo ben preciso, solo con la curiosità di provare come per gioco: i miei articoli erano acerbi, la grafica del blog lasciava a desiderare, ero una perfetta signorina nessuno... Non che oggi sia diventata una Chiara Ferragni dell'interior eh XD Ma durante quest'anno ho visto crescere il mio blog in un modo completamente inaspettato: ho studiato, ho definito il mio stile e i miei interessi, mi sono creata una nicchia nella giungla delle blogger di settore e ho i miei ancora pochi - ma buoni - followers a cui sono tanto affezionata. E in tutto questo, l'entusiasmo è cresciuto insieme al resto, se non ancora di più: quindi ora si guarda avanti e guai a chi mi ferma!

Guess what? The Peppermint Land celebrates its first year this month!

If I go back with my mind at when I started, without an exact aim but only with the curiosity to try, as a game... I really can't believe it! My posts were unripe, the graphics were bad. I was nobody... Sure, I'm not the Chiara Ferragni of the interiors today... XD But I saw my blog growing in an unexpected way during the last year: I studied, I defined my style and my interests, I found my place in the interiors bloggers' jungle. And I also have some followers - few but good - that I really appreciate. And my enthusiasm has grown even more! So, I'm going to look ahead now... And nobody will stop me!

Bando ai sentimentalismi: per celebrare degnamente il mio primo compleanno ho deciso di cimentarmi anch'io con un giveaway. Spero siate amanti della natura, perchè è all'insegna del verde domestico! Non sono una crafter così abile e soprattutto al momento non ho il tempo materiale per cimentarmi in un lavoro di bricolage, perciò mentre facevo brainstorming all'aria aperta in giardino mi sono guardata intorno e mi sono detta: perchè non condividere un pezzetto della mia vita e della mia casa? Quindi la parola chiave di questo evento sarà: SUCCULENTE!

Let's stop with this sentimental stuff. I decided to create this giveaway to celebrate my first birthday in the right way. I hope you love nature, 'cause the contest is about homely green! I'm not a very able crafter and at the moment I don't have time enough for a DIY work. So, while I was wondering in my garden, I said to myself: why not to share with you a piece of my life & my home? So the keyword of this event will be: SUCCULENTS!

Sono sicura che apprezzerete il "nursery kit" che ho pensato per il vincitore: sceglierò alcuni germogli delle mie piante grasse più belle, già con le radici per assicurarmi che sarà facile farli ricrescere. Preparerò poi del terriccio adeguato in una busta, e includerò un vaso abbastanza grande per piantarli tutti insieme. Quando saranno cresciuti, basterà travasarli in uno più capiente: le succulente sono estremamente adattabili e forti, vedrete che belle piante rigogliose avrete in poco tempo e col minimo sforzo! La foto sottostante è un assaggio di come sarà il premio ;)

I'm sure you'll enjoy the 'nursery kit' I've planned for you: I'll choose some little babies from my most beautiful plants; with roots already, so it should be easy to make them grow. I'll prepare some comfortable soil in a bag, and I'll include a pot wide enough to plant them all together. When they will be grown, you'll just have to put them in a larger jar: succulents are very strong and easy-fitting, so you'll soon have luxuriant plants with a little effort! The picture below is a preview of the final prize ;)

Un paio di settimane fa mi è stato recapitato un pacchetto sulla porta di casa: conteneva un nuovo prodotto che la BOSCH, nota azienda di elettrodomestici, mi ha fornito da testare e recensire in collaborazione con Blog Arredamento. Ve lo ricordate? Vi avevo dato un'anteprima su Facebook:

A couple of weeks ago I received a package at my house's door: it was a new product that the well-known appliances company BOSCH sent me to test and review, in partnership with Blog Arredamento. Do you remember it? I showed you a preview on Facebook:

Si tratta del distanziometro laser PLR 15, un nuovo strumento per "DIY enthusiasts", come recita il loro sito. A sentirlo nominare mi sembrava qualcosa di enorme e difficile da maneggiare (o me ingenua), per veri esperti del brigolage... ma in realtà si è rivelato un oggettino compatto e semplicissimo, intuitivo da usare anche per la crafter in erba come me, o per chiunque abbia bisogno di prendere una qualsiasi banale misura per la propria casa. Spesso i metri tradizionali sono poco precisi, non coprono grandi distanze o sono ingombranti da portare con sè per i propri acquisti. Con questo dispositivo invece basta puntare e... leggere! 

It's the PLR 15 laser rangefinder, a new tool for "DIY enthusiasts", as their website says. When I red its name I felt like it was something huge and hard to handle (me naive), something for real bricolage experts... but then it turned out to be something small, compact and simple, intuitive to use even for novice crafters like me, or for anyone else who needs to take any trivial measure in his own home. Traditional meters are usually inaccurate, they don't cover great distances or are bulky to carry with you during your home-shopping. But with this device instead... you just point it and read!

Sul display comparirà la misura che vi serve, che ha un range di 15 metri. Per questo è particolarmente utile non tanto per gli spazi domestici, quanto secondo me per gli esterni, oppure per misurare le altezze. Ad averlo ricevuto prima l'avrei sicuramente sfruttato per il mio ultimo progetto in giardino (qui), ma ora che lo possiedo lo ficco in borsetta, pronto per la mia prossima gita all'Ikea. E poi in casa l'hanno apprezzato proprio tutti!

The display will show you the measure you need to know, which can cover till 15 meters. This is why this little object is useful not only for homely spaces, but in my opinion also for the exteriors and to measure heights. If I had received it before I would have definitely used it of for my last garden project (here), but now that I own it I'll put it in my bag, ready for my next trip to Ikea. And then, everyone in my family enjoyed it!

Grey minimalism

"Minimalismo in grigio" mi sembra il motto perfetto per questa casa scovata su Ikea Family Live e che mi ha rubato il cuore (ultimamente me lo faccio rubare un po' troppo spesso eheh). Sì perchè quest'autunno mi sento particolarmente attratta da questa tonalità, sia per gli interni che nella moda, e questa giovane coppia svedese di esperti del settore ha saputo tradurre perfettamente il mio ultimissimo gusto in fatto di palette e di materiali. 

"Grey minimalism" seems the perfect maxim for this house I found on Ikea Family Live that has stolen my heart (it happens a little too often lately hehe). Yes 'cause I'm feeling particularly attracted by this tone of color on this autumn, both for interiors and fashion, and this young swedish couple of area experts has known how to translate perfectly my last taste about palettes and materials.

I non-colori del bianco e del grigio sono perfetti abbinati al legno chiaro, e nella cucina trovano il loro habitat naturale tradotti nella scelta di piastrelle e finiture in metallo. In tutta la casa sono decine le sfumature, che sembrano tratte da un cielo in tempesta, a dimostrazione che il grigio non è per niente noioso: potrei passare le ore buttata su quel letto dall'aria comodissima ad ammirare la pioggia dalla finestra!

No-colors of grey and white are perfect combined with light wood, and they find their natural habitat in the kitchen, translated in tiles and metal details. There are dozens of shades all around the house; it seems like they're taken from a stormy sky, 'cause grey is not a boring color: I could spend hours laying on that cozy bed, watching the rain through the window.

Casa su Misura 2014 @ PadovaFiere

Lo scorso weekend sono stata finalmente a Casa su Misura, la fiera annuale di Padova dedicata all'arredamento. Era la prima volta che la visitavo e devo ammettere che ne sono rimasta un po' delusa: gli stand dedicati ai mobili e alla decorazione di interni erano distribuiti solo su due padiglioni e non c'era una gran varietà di stili; si potevano trovare praticamente solo arredi contemporanei minimal o di gran lusso (secondo me un po' pacchiani). Qualche angolino shabby o etnico qua e là, ma una decisa minoranza, e praticamente nulla di nordico. 

Non voglio credere che il mio territorio abbia solo questo da offrire... o forse sì? Ad ogni modo, con il mio obbiettivo attento sono riuscita a catturare qualche angolo che mi ha colpito più degli altri (soprattutto per lo styling), quindi ecco qui un piccolo reportage fotografico per chi non ci è stato!

Last weekend I finally went to Casa su Misura, the annual home furnishing expo in Padua. It was my first time there and I have to say I was a little disappointed: there were only two pavilions of furnishings and home decor, and the variety of styles wasn't so wide; you could only find contemporary furnitures, minimal or luxurious (a little bit kitsch to me). Few shabby or ethnic corners, and basically nothing of nordic.

I can't believe my region has nothing else to offer... or maybe yes? Anyway I could capture some corner I liked more than others with my camera (in particular for the styling), so here it is a little photograpic reportage for those who haven't been there!

Mi è piaciuto molto l'angolino living di Distretto Creativo, decorato in stile raw: questo marchio è stata una piacevole scoperta, voglio conoscerlo meglio. Altri stand invece, come quelli di Calligaris e Comit Bagno, sono stati una conferma dello stile impeccabile e della qualità che li contraddistinguono: sedie dalle linee vintage e nordiche, e proposte bagno minimal dai materiali semplici ma lussuosi... mi conquistano sempre! Voi che ne pensate? Perdonate la scarsa qualità delle foto, ma le luci soffuse degli showroom sono sempre terribili.

I liked a lot the Distretto Creativo living corner, decorated with a raw style: this brand is a nice discovery, definetly wanna learn more about it. The other stands, like the Calligaris and Comit Bagno ones, were a proof of their high quality and style: vintage and nordic chairs, lots of minimal ideas for the bathrooms, with simple but luxurious materials... they've charmed me as always! What do you think about? Forgive me for the pictures' low quality, the showrooms' dark lights were so terrible.

Wish of the week #3

Io amo Pinterest perchè mi fa scoprire queste cose. Sì lo so, non ho appena trovato l'acqua calda, quest'oggetto è famoso da mesi... ma come sapete sto ricollezionando tutti i miei desideri arretrati in questa rubrica, quindi lui non può mancare! 

I love Pinterest 'cause it makes me discover this stuff. Yes I know, I haven't just found hot water, this object is well-known for months... but as you know I'm picking up all my old desires in this column, so it can't miss!

Signori e signore, le sac en papier, ovvero un banale sacco in carta riciclata con una scritta sul davanti che ne descrive le proprietà. Niente di più semplice e bellissimo. Ed economico, costa solo 10 euro, quindi non ho scuse per non farlo mio... povera me! Ma guardatelo, non sta bene praticamente in ogni angolo della casa? E' perfetto soprattutto per decorare il workspace. Voglio sapere se voi ce l'avete e come lo usate: ispiratemi :)

Ladies and gentlemen, le sac en papier, that is a common recycled paper bag with its properties written on the front. Nothing more simple and beautiful. And cheap 'cause it costs only 10 euros, so I have no more excuses to make it mine... poor me! But look at it, isn't it cute in every single corner of a house? Mostly it's perfect for decorating the workspace. I wanna know if you have it and how do you use it: inspire me :)

My lovely shopping @ Tiger

Mi erano giunte leggende, voci e lodi da ogni dove riguardo a Tiger, una mirabolante catena danese di negozi di accessori per la casa e chincaglierie varie, ma ancora non avevo avuto modo di verificare con mano la loro veridicità. Ebbene, questo weekend ho fatto una gita in compagnia al punto vendita più vicino (che purtroppo - o per fortuna - non è nella mia città), e sono rimasta estasiata: guardate cos'ho portato a casa con meno di 20 euro (incartato in una deliziosa carta baffuta)!

I heard legends, rumors and praises from everywhere about Tiger, an amazing Danish retail store of home accessories and various knick-knacks, but I still had not been able to verify with hand their veracity. Well, this weekend I made a trip with friends to the nearest store (which unfortunately - or fortunately - is not located in my town), and I was delighted: look what I brought home with less than 20 euro (wrapped in a cute moustache-paper)!

Finalmente ho trovato degli oggetti che bramavo da tanto, come il centrotavola diamantato, il washi tape e le lettere decorative. Poi non ho potuto fare a meno di mettere nel carrello anche quel sotto pentola in sughero pieno di triangoli, un paio di ceramiche che sembrano appena uscite da Pinterest, e visto che mi serviva un cavetto usb di ricambio... perchè non approfittarne? Sono soddisfatta al cento per cento e vi consiglio vivamente di farci un giro, ci sono oltre 120 punti vendita in Italia e ogni mese escono nuovi oggettini di design! Alla fine volete vedere come ho sistemato alcuni di questi oggetti in casa?

I finally found some items I longed for so much, as the diamond centerpiece, some washi tape and decorative letters. Then I couldn't restrain myself to put in the basket that corck under-pot full of triangles, a few ceramics that seem just come out from Pinterest, and since I needed a spare usb cable... why not take advantage? I'm totally satisfied and I highly recommend you a ride, there are over 120 stores in Italy and new design objects are released every month. Would you see how I styled some of these items in my house?

Friday I'm in love with...

Oggi vi presento un'artista che mi ha fatta innamorare a prima vista: si chiama Stephanie Somebody, è australiana e ha un occhio speciale. Non si occupa solo di interior styling, ma lavora anche su paesaggi, cibo, modelle. Il fil rouge della sua fotografia è questo sapore di casa e di cose semplici, dai colori freddi ma non per questo meno accoglienti, che in punta dei piedi ti avvolge in un'atmosfera ovattata e immobile... quelle montagne che sembrano coperte di zucchero filato, non vi sembrano uscite da un quadro di Segantini? Adoro.

Today I'm introducing you to an artist who made ​​me fall in love at first sight: her name is Stephanie Somebody, she's Australian and has a special eye. She's not only concerned with interior styling, but also works on landscapes, food, fashion models. The fil rouge of her photography is this homely and simple things taste, with cold colors but no less welcoming, than slowly hugs you in an intimate and still atmosphere... those mountains that seem to be covered with sugar, don't you seem to come from a Segantini's painting? I love it.
